Upcoming workshops: March 31 & April 7
Encaustic Painting Workshops
Ancient and intriguing, this method of painting originated in Greece, where it was used for the earliest easel and mural painting. A heady combination of colour, melting wax and heat, encaustic mixes dry and oil pigments in warm beeswax. Encaustic painting is safe, non-toxic and beginner-friendly.
Artist & educator Jan Yates has been working with this luscious medium for over 15 years and will share techniques including photo image transfer, collage, colour, glazing, relief, mark-making and carving. There will lots of time for hands-on play as written methodology will be presented after the workshop. No previous art making experience required, just an open mind.
