Ongoing Painting Sessions

Alla Prima

(Italian, meaning at first attempt), may also be referred to as 'direct painting'. It is a method in which layers of wet paint are applied to previous layers of wet paint. This technique requires a fast way of working, and usually has to be finished before the first layers of paint have dried.

Jan will demonstrate how to achieve a fresh and painterly effect that incorporates alla prima techniques. You will work from a colourful still life set up, or bring your own reference photos.

This series is suitable for those with a general knowledge of paint handling. A material list will be provided upon registration.
